| Here
is Steaphen in his arming jacket standing next to his armor. We
will be showing what steps are involved in getting one man into all of
this metalwork. |
| First
Steaphen has put on his Greaves. These are basically metal shin
guards to protect his lower leg. If he wore Sabitons (armored
boot covers) he would also put them on at this time.
| The
next two pieces are the Cuisses and Poleyns which protect his thighs
and knees. The top or the Cuisses are attached to the belt he is wearing under
the arming jacket and the Poleyns attach to the top of the the Greaves. |
| A
skirt of mail is next, this is to protect the inside of the legs and to
stop blows from traveling up the plate into his leg or abdomen.
| The
Gorget, one of the most important pieces of armor to wear, is next.
The Gorget combines with the helmet to protect the head and neck
from damage. |
